Judge a Car By it's Cover

We have all heard not to judge to a book by its cover, but what about judging a car by its cover? You know those cars you see with the words “WASH ME” finger painted through the dirt on the back window? I think we can all agree that when a car has those two words engraved on the back windshield, it is safe to judge that car by its cover.

I am almost positive the inside of that vehicle could also use a good makeover. Have I been the victim of walking up to my car in a parking lot and seeing those two little words etched on my car…maybe. I fear to fully disclose the truth in case my husband reads this. With springtime here, I think it is time we all add our vehicles to our spring cleaning list. Even if your car does not have a layer of filth covering it, every vehicle could benefit from either a good vacuum job or a glove box clean out.

Growing up, my dad had a serious obsession about always having the cars washed, waxed and looking perfect. I grew up in snow country, so this meant a lot of car washing during those long winter months. I have distinct memories of him coming home from working a 12 hour outdoor shift in the freezing cold of winter and before even coming in to change his clothes or warm up he was out in the driveway washing dirt and salt off of the cars. He always had the oil changed and tires rotated right on target which tells you why his current vehicle is running in great condition at 120,000 miles.

As we begin to spring clean our homes, closets, and flower beds, let’s add car to the list. After all, we all know that a clean, well maintained vehicle ups your resale value. Here are some spring cleaning tips:

1 - Handwash your car. This gives you the opportunity to look over every square inch of your vehicle and notice any nicks or cuts in the paint that need to be attended to before they get worse.

2 – De-junk the interior. The first item of business should be to simply remove everything that shouldn’t be there. Coats, papers, wrappers, etc. Remove anything that does not belong there.

3 - Vacuum and dust the interior. Once you get all the dust bunnies out the way, wipe down surfaces with a microfiber cloth. If you are feeling really adventurous, use a Q-tip for the tight spots.

4 – Clean the windows. This seems simple, but I bet you will be surprised what you find on your cloth once you clean these.

5 – Give it a simple tune-up. Make sure your vehicle is ready for hot weather by bringing your vehicle in for a tune-up to make sure everything is working properly.

GET--How We Came to Be

Kori’s Corner is making a comeback! If you missed our old Kori’s Corner you are probably wondering who I am. Let me tell you a little bit of how I crossed paths with Glenn E. Thomas Dodge Chrysler Jeep.
I first crossed paths with the Davis family back in college when I noticed a cute guy in my computer class wearing an L.A. Lakers sweatshirt. His named turned out to be Brad Davis and I married him a few years later. Brad is now the Sales Manager for Glenn E. Thomas Dodge Chrysler Jeep. My first introduction to the whole Davis family came during Spring Break when Brad brought me home to meet his family. I was instantly impressed with their integrity, family values and love of life. I soon learned they were car dealers and had a deep passion for HEMI engines and sports. They are a very tight knit group and are always fun to be around.

The Davis Family and Glenn E. Thomas Company first crossed paths back in 1944 when Monte Davis, a young Navy fighter pilot at the time, was working as a duck hunting guide while on leave. Monte served as Mr. Glenn Thomas’ guide and a strong bond formed between them. In 1945 when the war ended, Monte began working in the parts department at Glenn E. Thomas Dodge. He worked his way up to General Manager of the dealership and eventually became the sole owner of the company in 1968. Monte’s son, Bob, joined him in the car business in 1973. Today, Monte’s grandson’s, John, and my husband, Brad, are doing business the way Grandpa taught them.

My brother-in-law, John Davis, is the General Manager of GET. He is one of the hardest working people I have ever met. He is also a family man—the father of 4 fun, loving kids.
My husband Brad can be characterized as extremely charismatic, a recent cancer survivor, and father to our 2 sons -- one of which is named after his great-grandfather Monte.
My sister-in-law, Lori, and I are working on the new way of doing business, via the internet. Grandpa Monte would be proud of his legacy. With 10 Davis great-grandchildren, nine of which are boys, he would be happy to see he has a whole basketball team. The Davis tradition holds true, doing business on the principles Grandpa taught them of treating our customers like family.

With HEMI engines and family values running through our veins, you can see we are heavily invested in making sure you have a great experience each and every time you visit GET Dodge Chrysler Jeep. We pride ourselves on making you part of our family. Please allow me to be a liaison for you. As you can see from my intro, I have some pull with the man in the corner office, so please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you for being part of our family.
